best be served through the principles of a competitive market
economy that encourages diverse and profitable businesses so
as to provide a stable economic base for well paying jobs and
taxable business income.
We Will:
- Assertively and continuously advocate the development of
a business and economic climate and public policy, that encourages
investment, sustains and grows employment, and rewards success.
- Actively seek to attract, invest in, and retain businesses
and industries that provide challenging, meaningful and rewarding
employment opportunities for our fellow citizens.
- Leverage and strengthen Rutland County’s economic
development assets by coordinating and cooperating with regional
organizations, local governments and educational institutions.
- Serve as a catalyst and proponent for the development of
the state’s economic development infrastructure.
- Manage our organization’s financial resources skillfully
and responsibly, so that we are able to fulfill our mission
vigorously over the long term.
HISTORY:
Throughout our 63 year history we've worked for
the economic betterment of the community. Take the 1950's, when
we helped facilitate the sale of a building on Columbian Avenue
to a company who then became a major employer: General Electric.
Or how, throughout the 1960's and 1970's, we worked to bring
businesses to the Otter Creek Industrial Park - providing jobs
for area residents. And, in the 1980's and 1990's, how we broadened
our focus, once strictly industrial, to also include retailing,
tourism and service businesses. With each changing era, we've
changed to meet the needs of the area, its communities and businesses.
Now, that we are in the 21st century, we're using
technology to benefit our region - working to communicate and
compete on a national and global level. By forging a partnership
with area education, we'll ensure our workforce is up to the
challenge of the new economic era. REDC can assist your business
with site selection, permitting and financing - simplifying
your relocation and making your expansion easier. We understand
the many complex issues surrounding businesses and we work closely
with local, state and federal governments; we can help your
business grow. REDC. Ensuring prosperity, sustaining growth.
